Adrienne showed that she was clearly interested in Scott Joplin ‘The King of Ragtime’ 1868 – 1917, as she delivered a presentation of a biography of his life with a selection of suitable pieces to play, including ‘The Entertainer’, ‘Maple Leaf Rag’ and ‘Chrysanthemum’. Before each piece we heard the developing story of Joplin’s life from his childhood as the second of six children, the struggles his family faced especially when his father left them in the 1880s and yet how Joplin learnt to play the piano.
