Group Convenor: Helen Cleasby
Buon anno a tutti i membri di Exeter U3A!
The group currently has capacity for one more member. For more information, email convenor Helen Cleasby (contact details in the newsletter).
We meet on 2nd, 4th and 5th Wednesday afternoons at convenor’s home in Central Exeter.
We're a small group, aiming to acquire a good understanding of Italian and the ability to communicate confidently with native Italian speakers.
After over two years learning the basics, we are now at Lower Intermediate level. We started a new book (Italian GCSE) in September which should see us through 2019, to achieve Intermediate (GCSE) level.
We meet fortnightly on Wednesday afternoons. Meetings usually kick off with simple conversation and/or role play, followed by our chosen study book, but also leaving time to enjoy selected short stories or texts to help with speaking and comprehension. We plan our lessons in advance to enable us to be well prepared.
A language teacher based in northern Italy made contact with us last year, and some of us are now connected with Italian students of English.
We've also ventured to an Italian Coffee Morning organised by Exeter's Italian Cultural Association, and to an Italian film at the Phoenix.
If you'd like to learn Italian but can't find a group to suit you, contact the Committee or Groups Coordinator (https://u3asites.org.uk/exeter/contact), who will help set up a new group.
