Convenor: Joyce Burgess

BECAUSE OF THE PRESENT SITUATION WE ARE NOT HOLDING ANY MEETINGS AT PRESENT. HOWEVER, THE TALKS WHICH HAD BEEN PLANNED FOR NOVEMBER ONWARDS WILL BE EMAILED TO MEMBERS IN THE FORM OF A DOCUMENT. THERE WILL THEN BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO EMAIL ANY QUERIES OR COMMENTS WHICH WILL BE ANSWERED AND THEN SENT OUT TO ALL MEMBERS AS A FOLLOW-ON SESSION.

Under normal circumstances we meet once a month during the Autumn and Winter on the 3rd Wednesday in the month from 2.30 to 4.00 at the Mint.

If you would like to be added to the list of group members in order to receive the email 'talks' through the winter, together with up-dates and reminders, please contact the convenor.

Our sessions are on any language-related topic. To give a flavour of our subjects, among our previous meetings have been: the decipherment of Linear B; an introduction to Russian; Esperanto; Sign Language; Pet linguistic hates; Christmas language; Rhetorical devices; Language and Reality of the Piraha Tribe in Brazil etc..

Our most recent topics were the following:
