U3A Rock Band
The band, called Upstream, formed at the beginning of April 2016 and meets weekly.
There are seven of us: three guitarists, a bass player, a keyboard player, a drummer and a female vocalist. Some of the male instrumentalists also lead on, or help out with, the vocals. There is a range of experience within the group, but the aim is to play music for enjoyment and, at the same time, challenge ourselves to improve.
The playlist (which draws mainly on the music of our youth i.e. the 1950s and 60s) is varied and can be tailored to suit the event at which we are invited to play.
If you are interested in singing or playing similar music, please contact the Group Coordinator (Judy Smith) or me, and we will put you in touch with others who share your enthusiasm.
Anyone is welcome to attend a rehearsal, but it would be a good idea to contact us before you set out in order to check that the meeting is taking place. We meet most weeks for a couple of hours on Thursday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. at the Wyre Piddle Village Hall.
