TUESDAY 30 JULY 2019 SHERBORNE & WINDRUSH
Start time 10.00am
Led by John & Mary 01789 491148

This is one of our 5th Tuesday walks, - a little longer and a little further away, including both morning and afternoon. Don’t forget to bring your picnic and plenty to drink.

The walk starts at the National Trust car park in Sherborne Park on a broad ridge overlooking Sherborne Brook and offering fine views. The first and last parts of the walk are through well wooded slopes of Sherborne Park. In between there is attractive walking across the River Windrush’s lush water meadows, with delightful flora, butterflies and birds; a summer time naturalists paradise. In addition to distant countryside views we walk through the delightful villages of Sherborne and Windrush and have the opportunity to visit a particularly interesting church in Windrush.

The walk duration is 8.6 miles and there is a total ascent of 614ft. but with only a couple of noticeable slopes. Allowing for picnic and viewing stops we would expect to be back at the cars around 3.00pm.

Directions
Parking - use the Ewepen car park, postcode GL54 3DT. The best route from Evesham is A44 to Stow on the Wold, then A429 southwards to just before Northleach. At roundabout take the A40 left (eastbound) and after 2.8 miles take a left turn (Signpost Sherborne). Car park is after 200 metres on right hand side. Allow 50 minutes for the trip and car share if possible. The car park is free to National Trust members and £3 for others, so bring your NT card with you or hop into a car with someone who has one.

TUESDAY 5 AUGUST 2019 BIDFORD & CLEEVE PRIOR
Start time 10.00am
Led by John & Mary 01789 491148

This is a relatively relaxed and fairly level 5 mile walk. The total climb of 250 feet is in two gentle sections. Our trek south from Bidford is beside the River Avon along the Shakespeare Avon Way. Bidford was a riverside tourist resort from 1870 until 1960 and we can share a few pictures of the holiday makers from early in the last century. At Marlcliff we have a gentle ascent followed by views to the right of Salford Priors, the Lenches and Bevington. After rambling through picturesque Cleeve Prior we return over steppe like country side, hopefully with an attractive cloudscape. Paths are grass covered so there should be little mud.

There is a pub available in Bidford for lunch together.

To reach Bidford travel north up the A46, and turn at the first roundabout after Twyford. Travelling through Bidford there is a village roundabout. Turn right at this and then immediately left into a free car park, post code B50 4JA. We start from there.
