Turn left at the T junction, continue along here. The road will bend round to the right. Go under an old railway bridge. End of the road turn right onto the A436 to Cheltenham. At the traffic lights turn left onto the A40. Continue along the A40 a short distance, then turn right at the traffic lights A436 to Gloucester. TUESDAY 15 OCTOBER 2019 ROUND EVESHAM WALK
Start time 10.00am
Led by Janet & Beryl

Contact John & Mary if you are to attend 01789 491148

The walk starts from The Hampton Ferry, Evesham and is about 5 miles long. We walk along the River Avon, past Evesham Sports Club until we reach Worcester Road at the Tesco Superstore. We cross over the Worcester Road and walk along the signposted Evesham Battle Trail. (An extension path of 1.5 miles takes you to the Leicester Tower, Abbey Manor and Obelisk, but we do not plan to do this.) We continue until we get to Greenhill, where we cross the road and walk down Blayney’s Lane until we reach the River Avon again. This area is home to a plethora of wildlife on and around the river and the remnants of the once productive Vale of Evesham orchards. We continue along this footpath and towpath until we reach Mill Street, where we cross over Bridge Street back into Abbey Park. From here we walk along the river, past The Rowing Club until we reach Raphael’s Restaurant.

Directions
By car, from Abbey Road, take Boat Lane at the Waitrose roundabout towards the Hampton Ferry. Park in Raphael’s Restaurant car park. Post Code is WR11 4BP. Parking is free for those eating in the Restaurant, otherwise they may charge £2.00 for parking there. If you plan to stay for lunch we will be pre-ordering our food to help Raphael’s with food preparation for the group.
