TUESDAY 4 FEBRUARY 2020 ASTON SOMERVILLE, CHILDSWICKHAM & MURCOT
Start time 10.00am
Led by Derek & Graham

Contact John & Mary if you are to attend 01789 491148

5.7 mile level walk.

Today’s walk is across open level ground with just a short section on a quiet road from Cheltenham Rd to C’wickham. Some of the rest is around fields and along wide grassy tracks and some on tracks or village paths. There are 3 stiles and the path is liable to mud in places especially on one section which is a bridleway so please be prepared if it is wet.

From Evesham head out on the Cheltenham Rd passed the Football ground and take the 2nd left marked Aston Somerville. (Allow 4 minutes from the A46 roundabout). We begin at the Village Hall where parking is available. As you come into the village there is a sharp right hand bend. The Village Hall is on the right just after the bend. It is the first building on the right hand side of School Road, post code WR12 7JD. A voluntary contribution for each car parked is welcomed by the Hall Committee.

The walk includes a tour of the older parts of Chilsdwickham with its apparently random mix of old styles from Cotswold limestone to red brick, to the more traditional Worcestershire black and white half timber, some wattle and daub, and thatch.

Views throughout are wide from the Cotswold Edge and Broadway Tower to Bredon and the Malverns and around Murcot we will be looking up to the line of the Broadway Rd as it heads south from Evesham.

We have the option of a pub lunch at Childswickham’s Inn and Brasserie (snacks £6.50-£9 and Pub Classics including Ham Egg and Chips at £12.95 or £13.95).

TUESDAY 18 FEBRUARY 2020 EBRINGTON & NEBSWORTH
Start time 10.00am
Led by John & Mary 01789 491148

This delightful winter walk is almost entirely on made tracks. It provides super, wide open views of the landscape in all directions. Regular walkers in the Group will recognise that we have “curated” a route from parts of 3 existing walks and with some new track added. We head out from Ebrington along Nash’s Lane to reach Pig Lane at Nebsworth, where the landscape is a panorama of South Warwickshire. Our return across Ebrington Hill provides views on two sides of familiar walking countryside. The walk is 5.1 miles with a total, gentle ascent of 560 feet. Well worth it for the views and the winter trees!

Directions

From Evesham take the B4035 to Weston Subedge. Turn left to take the B4632 before shortly turning right onto the B4035 towards Chipping Campden. Turn left onto Campden Road B4081 and after 0.2 miles turn slight right onto Furze Lane. After 1.4 miles turn right onto Hidcote Road. This will take you into Ebrington where the Village Hall can be found on the right just as you enter the village. The Village Hall Post code is GL55 6PA. We are asked to offer a contribution of £1 for each car parked. Please do not ‘post’ loose change at the Village Hall as Mary will pop contributions into an envelope for them.

From the car park at the village hall it is a short stroll to the Ebrington Arms for those wanting lunch locally. This is home to the beers of the Yubberton Brewing Company, Yubberton being the original name for Ebrington. The main courses are over what we usually pay, but sandwiches are available at £8 or £9.
