We are the local U3a for members living in the Epsom & Ewell area. We offer a variety of social, cultural and study opportunities for mature people, all run on a voluntary basis by our members themselves.
We are living longer and in better health. For many of us "The Third Age" - the age of retirement and the end of the need to make a living, could be the longest and most stable part of our lives. But even if we are enjoying well earned freedom it may lack the stimulation of challenge.
The University of the Third Age or U3A as it is familiarly known, can provide that spur.
It challenges the idea that retirement is a time to sit back and watch the world go by and recognises that we still have plenty of skills, experience and know-how to share with others. It believes that as aerobics are a means to physical fitness, learning in leisure is a way to mental well-being.
When you join Epsom and Ewell U3A your annual membership fee covers participation in most group activities depending on venue as well as entrance to our monthly meetings with speakers.
We have many groups covering such subjects as:
Art and Antiques, Crafts, Discussion Groups, Games and Pastimes, History, Languages, Literature, Music, Outdoor Activities and Visits.
We also organise outings, theatre trips, concerts and special events as well as holidays at additional cost.
