Philosophy

There are three Philosophy groups, meeting on Mondays and Tuesdays

Alternate Monday mornings
We discuss a wide range of philosophical questions such as:
What can we really know? How does the mind work? Do we have free will? What are the strengths & weaknesses of the principal ethical systems? What are the arguments for the existence of God? Is it good to have faith?
We look at some of the great thinkers of the ages: Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Hume etc
There is a lot of discussion.
It suits beginners and those a little more advanced.

Third Monday afternoon of the month
Same content as Monday mornings; this group meets at 2:00pm.
For more information, please click on the blue bird and select Mike Brake or telephone 01372 813224

Third Tuesday of the month
We are a practical philosophy discussion group and our primary focus is to enjoy exploring everyday questions, against a philosophical background, without making it too academic, complicated or abstract. Review our own thinking through listening and learning, accepting differences, in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. Above all, to focus on practicality and simplicity.
The group meets at 10:00am.
