Epsom & Ewell

German

GERMAN 3

This Group is made up of intermediate to advanced German 'students'. The aspiration of the group's members is to improve their German language skills through conversation, reading, translation and discussion, by watching German films and TV programmes, and perhaps with a little tuition of grammar.

Members' interests range from German life and culture - literature, music, arts and history - to current affairs. It is hoped that members will achieve their aims in informal and enjoyable meetings in which everyone is encouraged to contribute according to their capabilities, with mutual support and the group leader's guidance. We meet every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month, from 14:00 to 16:00, usually at the group leader's house (which means, of course, that numbers are limited).

If you are interested in joining the group, please click on the envelope to email Annelies Lindner

New initiative from National Office
New Initiative - February 2021 - Please contact National Office Subject Adviser
During the current pandemic, we have initiated "Lesestunden" - these are being run by myself with a Group Leader from Marlow. We run several sessions for each, generally every two weeks. Those registered receive the text in advance, then, during the hour, we begin by reading the text aloud - each participant takes a turn, controlled by the leader. After the reading, we discuss the story and try to analyse it. So far, these sessions have been offered to all the Group Leaders registered for my E-mail Forum, and they are offering them onwards to their groups. If you want to be part of this, please ensure your Group Leader is a member of the Forum, which should be done by sending a request to me via the subject advisers page on the National u3a Website. If your Group Leader is unable to join, I will accept a named substitute. I look forward to more participants!
