There are five members currently in our Exploring Art group.
We meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 10am to noon, and we take it in turns to present an artist.
In December we usually decide on the following year's theme. This year we are having a look at Russian Art.
On the first meeting of the month we have a PowerPoint Presentation.
This entails a written essay (3 to 4 sides of A4) which is reproduced for every one in the group, on the artist’s life together with 20-30 pictures downloaded from the internet to PowerPoint.
Although one member is in charge of the presentation, we all have a lively discussion of the pictures as they come onto the screen.
On the second meeting of the month we usually have a Video or DVD, which we borrow from the National Office Resource Centre.
Sometimes we have an outing.
We have space for two more members in our group, but who ever joins us must be prepared to do a presentation when it is their turn.
This is not as daunting as it sounds, especially if you have access to the internet, and all the members are prepared to offer support in the spirit of shared learning.
