Rummikub (pronounced “rummy-cube”) is a tile-based game for two or four players. It combines elements of the card game Rummy and Mahjong (see above). There are 104 number tiles in the game ranging from 1 to 13 in four different colours, with two copies of each) and two jokers. Players have either 14 or 16 and take turns to draw down tiles from their racks into sets or runs of at least three, while having to take a tile if they cannot take a turn.
The first player to use all their tiles gets a positive score based on the total value of all the tiles the other player(s) is(are) still holding, while the losers get negative scores.
The group meets on alternate Tuesdays between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm at a member's home in Chigwell. The Group Convenor is Sandra Peters whose contact details are presented in the Epping Forest U3A Prospectus.
