Mahjong is a tile-based game that originated in China. It is usually played by four players, although three-player versions of the game are played in some parts of the world. There are 144 tiles altogether.
A player usually starts off with 13 tiles each of which has a Chinese symbol on it. Players draw and discard tiles until they have completed a legal set using a 14th tile to form four melds or sets and a pair (or eye).
This group aims to have fun playing this game as well as learning how to improve play. The group meets every first and third Fridays of the month between 2 pm and 5 pm. These times can vary.
It is convened by Mags Pell whose details can be found in the Epping Forest U3A Prospectus. The Group also advertises from time to time in the EFU3A Monthly Newsletter and also on the Newsreel shown at Main Monthly Meetings. Anyone interested should contact the Convenor.
