Flower Arranging
This Group is designed for Members with an interest in constructing different kinds of decorative arrangements with flowers and other foliage. Some instruction is arranged from time to time, but mainly Members learn from each other through shared practice.
Part of each session includes a flower arranging demonstration. Group Members bring their choice of materials to create a design which had been demonstrated the previous month. Members bear the cost of these materials themselves.
Members also contribute towards costs of materials for the Group’s annual display. Members make their own arrangement, bringing along a container, flowers, foliage relevant to the theme of the month covering seasonal flowers through to Christmas.
Information and a photograph of the previous month’s design are circulated to Members prior to each meeting as a reminder. Guidance is then provided in each session as Members create their own version of the demonstrated design.
Members get to practice flower design skills and share their experiences with other Members. They also gain from qualified instruction from the Group Convenor who has a Teacher’s Certificate and has taken many specialist courses in flower arranging design and display and has created designs for many festivals and outside events.
These sessions are held through the year on the last Monday of each month, from 2 pm to 4 pm in Theydon Bois Village Hall.
