Gardens and Plants

During the Covid-19 lockdown, Garden Groups 1 and 2 have combined to publish a weekly U3A Garden News edited alternately by Joan Wall and David Latham. Also Botany Group is producing a weekly U3A Plant News edited by Helen Moore. Each issue may be viewed by clicking the appropriate link on this page. If you want to contact one of the editors, use the message button above.

Garden 1 generally has meetings in the winter and outings in the summer (see Dates for Your Diary). Bev McVey and Liz Latham are the joint coordinators. In winter the group meets on the third Tuesday of the month at Ely Library, 2pm for 2:15pm. Currently at capacity but we have a waiting list. Please contact either Bev or Liz for more information.

Garden 2 meets on the last Thursday of each month, from 2.30 pm at St Peter's Church meeting room, Broad St. Ely during the winter with outings in the summer. A £10.00 sub covers the cost of venue hire, speakers and refreshments for a year from joining. Prospective members can attend as guests for a £2.00 fee. For more information please call coordinators Sheila Abbott or Joan Wall or use the message button on this page.

Botany Group meets on the 1st Monday of the month, either on a field trip or 10-12pm in the Communal Room, Militia Way. The group has a varied programme that should appeal to anybody with an interest in plants. Sue Holgate and Helen Moore coordinate the group, if you are interested send a message to Sue through the message button on the group page.
