History and Family History
Three groups are listed here:
|History||Peter Lee||1st Thursday||2.30-4.00pm|
|Family History||Ian Forrest||2nd Monday, Tuesday & Thursday||10.00-12.00pm|
|Writing Up Family History||Susan Morris||4th Tuesday||11.00-1pm|
The History Group arranges monthly talks and occasional visits, sharing members' interests and knowledge, extended and enriched by external speakers. Normally the group meets 2.15 for 2.30pm on the first Thursday of the month at the City of Ely Bowls Club, Nutholt Lane, Ely CB7 4PL. See below for Dates for your Diary.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the History Group has suspended normal physical meetings and instead, we are keeping in touch with a weekly newsletter In Time edited by Maggie Haverson, copies of which are posted on this page. If you want to contact the editor, use the message button on this page. From October, the group resumed its meetings on Zoom (see Dates for Your Diary below). If you are a member of the group, you will receive a link by email enabling you to join the meeting.
The Family History Group meets on prearranged days to use the computers at Ely Library to pursue family histories together, with guidance from more experienced members. Ian Forrest is the coordinator. The group size is limited by the number of computers at the library.
The Writing Up Your Family History is a group organised by Susan Morris to help people who have researched their family's history and now need to write it up..
