Opera Enjoyment Weybridge CLOSED
2 -5 p.m. second Thursday monthly.
Discussion of synopsis before listening and viewing either on DVD, live screening or attending a performance. A full opera will be shown at each meeting. New members welcome.
The Leader says:
"The Opera enjoyment group meets in a member's house. It was set up a year ago and now has 6-8 members attending regularly.
As the leader of the group I have found the U3A “Sources” magazine invaluable and the advice given by the “expert” is very clear. Show a full opera at each meeting; discuss the opera both before and after the showing and get to know what resources are available to you. After registering with the Resource Centre, it is possible to order a DVD free of charge provided you return it promptly. The only cost is the return postage.
At each meeting I introduce the opera by going quickly through the Synopsis. Everyone is helped by the fact that the DVD’s have subtitles in a number of languages.
At the end of the show members share their opinions and thoughts about the opera.
The only problem we have found is that many operas run for more than 2 hours. Some can be shown in 2 parts although that is not recommended.
So the Opera Enjoyment group looks forward to its third year in 2019. Join us if you can and enjoy the opera."
