Wine Appreciation - 1 This group meets from 2.00 to 4.00 on the third Thursday of each month at different venues. Tasting and discussing reasonably priced wines from around the world
Currently using Zoom
The Wine Appreciation group was formed in August 2012. The purpose was to arrange convivial gatherings at which members would meet to taste and discuss various wines from around the world.
Most meetings are held in Weybridge, but the location varies because we meet at the home of a group member. The house has to be large enough to accommodate all the members, so this means that the location rotates amongst five or six of the fourteen members as we usually average 10 members per session and even then, that can be quite cramped.
The person who volunteers to lead the tasting provides the wines and tasting notes. The maximum expenditure per bottle is £12 and each meeting costs £5 per person. The member who leads the tasting will not necessarily be the same person who provides the venue, so any member can lead a tasting.
In the past we have covered a range of topics, e.g. Affordable Pinot Noir, NZ Sauvignon, Not Prosecco, Berry Bros own label, Waitrose own label, Majestic own label, Spain/Sherry, France/Beaujolais, France/Languedoc, France/Bordeaux, and wines from Romania, Georgia, Portugal etc.
At the time of writing it is difficult to announce future plans as the choice of topic is at the discretion of the member who volunteers to lead the meeting.
