WRITING YOUR LIFE STORY
Various venues - 10.30–12.30 second and fourth Tuesdays monthly
New members welcome.
The Leader says:
"We meet at members’ homes on a rota. Currently we have eleven registered members and typically we have up to nine attending. The present group started in September 2011 following the passing of the previous group leader. This year 2018 for the first time we plan to have a Christmas social lunch together.
We start our meetings with some refreshment while we gather and sort ourselves out and then circulate the group sharing the latest page or two of our stories. There is no fixed way of writing one's life story. Some start from their grandparents before getting into their own chronological tale whilst others just relate highlights. The great thing is that listening to other members' stories one is often reminded of things or events that one should add to one's own.
Our group has included a former barrow boy, a private detective, civil servants, teachers, scientists, bankers, actors, health visitors and many of us who have had many careers and National Service. We have come from many countries: China, Greece, Tasmania, Switzerland, Iran, Sweden, Germany as well as different parts of the UK. It would be pleasing if someone could start another group as folk looking to join our group can find themselves waiting too long and never seem to feel they could take on the role of group leader to start a fresh group at that stage."
