I have been regularly attending the SUN Representative meetings in Hassocks which are always well organised and informative. It gives me and others who attend a chance to exchange ideas and conversations regarding various subjects that apply to our respective U3As.
Chairman, Robin James and I attended their AGM in March. At the meeting, we were informed that their Treasurer (Shirley Meakins) was retiring and their Secretary (Margaret Carroll) had also resigned in recent days. The Treasurer’s role has been filled by Brian Dalby of Crowborough U3A, and to date, the role of Secretary is still vacant.
The Study Days have been well attended this year, and May’s Study Day is the last now until the Autumn. The new programme will be sent out with the membership renewals in August.
Do attend these if you can and especially if a subject is of interest to you.
The days are very good value at £8.00 per day with free tea and coffee. The tutors are often associated with local Universities or are professionals in their field. These popular events are intended to enrich members’ knowledge of the topics covered.
Booking forms and venue maps are available online, https://u3asites.org.uk, under Events, Study Days page.
Apart from myself, unfortunately, there has been little interest in joining other local Group U3As in the Sussex Myths and Spirits Shared Learning Project. Initial meetings have already taken place and soon other meetings will be taking place to progress the project. It is not too late to join this project, so please let me know as soon as possible, if you are interested.
I shall be attending the South East U3A Forum run Chichester Summer School in June and will report back on how it all went.
Meanwhile, don’t forget to keep looking at the SUN website and their News page.
