Eastbourne Meads

Barn, Folk & Country Dancing

Group Leader: Colin Broome

Venue: St. John’s Parish Hall, corner of Meads Street and Meads Road on Wednesday afternoons. September through to March from 1.45 for 14:00 to 4.00pm.

Barn Dancing includes all kinds of dancing from around the world whatever you choose to include! Folk Dancing is the traditional dancing of working folk in the past, mainly from the British Isles. These Folk Dances tend to be simpler in form and easy to walk through and dance as well as being less formal and proscribed than Country Dancing which was mainly performed by the landed gentry, nobility and upper classes from before 1650 up to 1820. We would welcome anyone who would like to make dancing part of their ‘keep fit’ routine. No need to bring a partner. A lift from the town centre is possible by prior arrangement. There is a small charge to cover the hall hire and refreshments.
