Rummikub Group 2
Venue The Hawthorns, 4 Carew Road, Eastbourne BN21 1SF
3rd Monday of the month 2.30pm
Rummikub is a game played with tiles, a bit like scrabble, and is similar to the card game Rummy - instead of having hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds, the tiles have different colours (black, orange, red and blue) with numbers on them (1 to 13). Each player takes fourteen tiles at the beginning and aims to get rid of all of them as soon as possible, the first one to do so winning the game. You have to put down tiles in groups of three. If you are putting down three of the same number, they have to be of different colours. If you are putting down a run, as in rummy, they have to be the same colour. To start, you have to put down tiles worth 30. They can be in any combination. There are also two smiling face tiles that count as anything (like a blank tile in scrabble). Once you have put down your tiles worth 30, you can then start adding to any other tiles that have been put down by other players. This is where the skill comes in getting rid of your tiles.
A charge of £1.50 is made for refreshments, however, for those who do not partake in this fare, a discretionary donation of £1-50 would be appreciated for the use of the facilities.
