The English Novel 1800-1950
The group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month
Venue: A private house in Meads - details from the group leader
This group is aimed at those who are keen novel readers and have a particular interest in the ‘classic novels’ of the 19th century and first half of the 20th. The sessions will be run along the lines of a book club: members of the group will take it in turns to nominate a novel and will introduce it and talk a little about the author. This will be followed by a general discussion about the novel: its characters, themes, context etc. We will also watch video lectures on the history of the novel and on individual authors. Group members will need to have the time to read one novel a month in advance of the meeting. The group has room for a limited number of new members.
To join - contact the group leader - details are in the study group booklet or email through the link on our Contacts page.
