Trustee for East of England Region
Introduction to Maurice Austin your Trustee for the East of England Region
I would like to introduce myself as the new Third Age Trust Trustee for the East of England. I am a member of the Chelmsford u3a in Essex and lead its Bus Pass Group. I keep bees, like gardening, buses and so much more, have two sons and a grandson and granddaughter.
I put myself forward for this role as the Third Age Trust and u3a's tick so many boxes in my personal list of how I want to live my life. There are so many lovely people freely sharing their life skills and experiences in an open-handed and open-minded manner. I find that stimulating.
Of course, the 'job' will not be easy. The volume of work alone is a challenge. We have a large and varied region with differing requirements, passions, and attitudes. I replace a first-class Trustee, Barbara Cordina, who has been dedicated to serving the region and who has left a legacy of support to you all; one that needs to be cherished and nurtured. I shall do my best to achieve this although there will inevitably be a hiatus whilst I complete my induction.
I obviously cannot do everything on my own and look forward to working with Barara's team and other volunteers.
Many thanks to everyone who voted for me in the 2023 elections. But whether you did or not (and I will not know!). I look forward to working with and for you.
Maurice Austin,
Trustee for the East of England
