| 2024-02 Hub Meeting | This months Speaker is Peter Griffiths Talk From sextant to sat nav part 2
Peter left BOAC in 1975 and then spent 29 years with Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong, rising to Fleet Manager B747, managing 19 aircraft. During that time he evacuated people from China after Tiananmen Square and flew freighters during the first Gulf War. After Cathay, he flew executive jets and came to realise that the rich are indeed different. He has a fund of informative, historical and amusing stories andwill be happy to take questions after the talk. |
| 2024-03 Hub Meeting | This month's Speaker is Ian Everest. Talk: A Sussex Farm during the 1950’s
Ian attended Agricultural College in the late 1960s. After further agricultural-related work, he changed direction in 1987 when he became the manager of Newhaven Fort. In 1985, he started researching his family history, and this ongoing activity has led to the development of several local history talks. |
| 2024-04 Hub Meeting | This months Talk from John Field on Tommy Cooper
This ungainly, tall, ugly, incompetent magician only had to stand on stage and the public would laugh. As soon as he chuckled, shrugged his shoulders, coughed or did a stage shimmy the audience was his. Even now his shows are repeated on television to large audiences who cannot help laughing at his antics. What was he really like and what led him to this successful formula? Hear John’s talk on Tommy to find out. |
| 2024-05 Hub meeting | May's Speaker is Joe Mendell
A presentation of America's 45 (now 46) presidents, but not in detail. In this fascinating presentation, Joe brings out some lesser-known facts about the 46 men who have been President of the USA. Which president is considered to be the best? Which one is considered to be the worst? Which President kept pet alligators in the White House? Things you might have yet to learn about these men. |
