Meditation with music
Meditation with Music
Our group meets on the first and third Friday of every month at the conveners' home in West Ealing at 3.00pm. We have both been practising different aspects of meditation for over 20 years. When we joined U3A we felt that we could share our meditation experiences with other members.
Why 'Meditation with Music?’ Soft music has always been of primary importance in the world of meditation, relaxation and introspection.
Our members start arriving from 3.00pm and have time to warm up and relax before meditation starts at 3.30pm. We choose different meditations for each session by popular request followed by questions and answers. We choose one topic of discussion such as: peace, love, anger, compassion. We end the session with tea and biscuits and enjoy a social talk.
Among many meditation techniques breathing is one of the most powerful in which we observe the breathing cycle very closely. This helps us in our inner journey of developing mindfulness.
Laughing is another powerful meditation in which we reduce our daily stresses and strains.
We also do music with movement meditation (where we are all free to express ourselves to the music, observing our own movements.)
Over the time many members have commented as follows:
- I always look forward to these Friday meetings as I feel so calm and relaxed afterwards.
- I sleep better now as I follow some of these meditations at home as well.
- The pains in my body have reduced whenever we do Music with movement meditation.
- I didn't know about laughing meditation (bit apprehensive in the beginning), I enjoy it now.
The emphasis is on 'knowing ourselves' and recognising and coping of our daily stresses.
We warmly invite you to come and experience all this for yourself. You can sit on a chair or on the floor, whichever is comfortable for you.
