Music 2
You must be a Member of Ealing u3a to take part in an Interest Group
Music groups 1 and 2 work closely together: sometimes someone who does a presentation for one group repeats it for the other group. The guiding principle of the groups has always been the enjoyment of music. We do not actually perform music ourselves.
The venue
This group takes place at the home of Moira Pamment, Cuckoo Avenue, W7. It meets once a month usually on the first Friday of the month from 10.30 am – 12 noon.
Meeting content
Members who are willing choose a selection of music to talk about. They are given every encouragement to do so. The programmes reflect the evolving interests of the members, usually agreed two to three months in advance.
Technology
We usually listen to music using Spotify (a music streaming service).
Range of topics
At a single meeting we usually look at a composer’s life and works, look at a single work in depth, explore the history of a musical instrument, a specific musical form such as quintets, a specific musician or a theme.
Type of music
It is usually classical. At least once a year we have an ‘anything goes’ session where all members are invited to choose a favourite recording and say a few words about it if they wish. This brings in a wide range of music.
Joining
The group is currently full. You may like to consider joining the Music to Share group or to contact the groups co-ordinator.
Convenor: Liz Major, email enquiries through the blue bird above right.
