NORWOOD Top Lock (No 90) - HANWELL FLIGHT of LOCKS
The Hanwell Flight on the Grand Union Canal consists of six locks constructed in 1794, which raise the water level by about 53ft in half a mile. Each lock was built to accommodate a 14ft wide barge or two 7ft wide narrowboats side by side. This is a view of the Top Lock (no 90) in Norwood, taken in March this year by Jenny Leach, member of our Photography Group. Somewhere to visit perhaps, now there has been some relaxation in the lockdown.
