Life Long Learning

There is much debate in the region at this time as to whether we are giving as much help as we can to those members who are interested in continuing their Life Long Learning experience. Apart from the days provided by the U3A region, here are details of some opportunities that you can access from your computer or within the locality:

1. Futurelearn: a series of free on-line courses offered by currently 20 British universities covering a variety of subjects. Find out more at www.futurelearn.com.

2.MOOC: this stands for Massive Open On-line Courses and offers a huge range of free courses from prestigious universities. Find out more at www.mooc-list.com

3. Durham University: there is a large range of open access events and lectures in the various colleges covering a wide range of topics. Find out more at www.durham.ac.uk/whatson/lectures_seminars.

4. Institute of Advanced Study: this is part of the university and each year has a different theme around which lectures are centred. This year the theme is Emergence. Find out more at www.durham.ac.uk/ias or call in at the IAS building on Palace Green and pick up a brochure.

5. The U3A runs its own Distance Learning courses. You can find out more by accessing the central U3A from this site by clicking on the U3A button at the top of each page.
