Dunelm

Members page

Following the latest government advice on Covid-19, the committee has taken the decision to cancel all Dunelm U3A meetings until further notice. This includes all groups and the monthly meetings. This means that the AGM is cancelled and the current committee remains in place until it is considered safe to hold an AGM or other arrangements can be made.

We are aware that some members rely on U3A for social contact. We will be issuing further advice and suggestions to groups on how to keep members involved during the shutdown.

We have added a Stay Active page to this web site with suggestions on how to keep active while all meetings are suspended.

U3A is one of over 1000 U3A’s in the country.

We are affiliated to the Third Age Trust and have charitable status.

We are governed by our own Constitution and run by a Committee of 10 people.

A general meeting is held on the last Thursday of every month except December. At these meetings there is opportunity to browse the Group notice boards and talk to the group leaders before a 40 minute talk of general interest by a visiting speaker.

We have over 15 interest and activity groups which meet either once or twice a month or weekly.

All interest and activity groups have a leader or convenor, normally assisted by other members. There are guidelines to help Group Convenors.

If a number of members share an interest that is not covered by existing groups, we encourage and will assist them to start New Interest Groups and we have guidelines to help. Subject advice is also available from the Third Age Trust.
