Poetry Reading
The Poetry Reading group meets on the 2nd Thursday in each month at 10am in Waddington Street URC church hall. New members are very welcome. Cost £2.00.
The format is that members choose poems relating to the topic or poet and share them with the group, discussing their reasons for their choices. With dead poets we also do a bit of research into their life and times as this helps to put the poem into context. We found reading a longer poem over the past year very enjoyable and decided to choose another poem for this coming year. Many of us have a collection of poetry books but poems can also be accessed via the library or many online sites so you only have to spend what you want on materials.
We have been running for several years now and have a small but committed membership. We are welcoming to new comers and those who just want to come on an occasional basis.
