Maths for Fun
Time: Monthly on the third Thursday at 2pm
Venue: The Plough, Lordship Lane SE22 8JJ (opposite Dulwich Library)
We explore a wide range of mathematical topics, investigate mathematical patterns, learn about the history of Maths and its influence, old and new. We find out about the people behind the mathematics including women who have struggled against the odds to be recognised for their work. Topics have included Fractals, Platonic Solids and 3D Tessellations, Graph Theory, The Amazing History of π, Bell Ringing using computer animation, ‘Gravity-Defying’ bike wheel and gyroscopes.
Members are expected to have had a mathematical background but the mathematics we engage in is recreational not rigorous!!
