Notice of Special General Meeting
The committee have called a Special General Meeting to be held at 2pm on Wednesday 13 November 2019.
The meeting will take place prior to our normal open meeting at Herne Hill Baptist Church, SE24 9HU
After the SGM this month’s talk by Dr Andrew Graham will be “The day we went to the moon “
The purpose of the SGM will be to adopt a new constitution, which will enable us to operate as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation ( CIO )
A CIO is a new form of charitable status designed to give protection to charity trustees against any liabilities which may arise.
There will be three motions to consider:
Motion 1: To adopt the draft constitution of the Dulwich & District U3A Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
Motion 2: To dissolve the Dulwich & District U3A Charity
Motion 3: To transfer any assets and liabilities of Dulwich & District U3A Charity to the new Dulwich & District U3A Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

The Draft CIO constitution has been drafted to be as close to our existing constitution as possible. It is an amalgam of the model constitution provided by the Charity Commission and the model constitution for U3As which is produced by the Third Age Trust.
