Online Renewal FAQs

Common questions about online renewals are listed below. If you have a different question please email the Membership Secretary.

Can I change my Membership Class when I renew online?
No, it must be done by the Membership Secretary before you renew online, or you will be charged the wrong amount. If any of the following apply to you please email the Membership Secretary before trying to renew online:

  • You have a Joint membership but only one of you wants to renew.
  • You want to change from an Individual to a Joint membership because your partner is joining/returning to the u3a or because you joined at different times.
  • You want to stop or start receiving TAM (Third Age Matters, the national magazine).

Do I need to fill in a paper form or sign anything if I renew online?

  • No, just fill in the online form.

Can I renew for both of us?

  • Yes, if you have a Joint membership, one member can renew both memberships.

How can I pay?

  • You can use a credit or debit card, or a PayPal account.
  • Because the payment process is managed by PayPal it will encourage you to pay using an existing PayPal account or by creating a new one.
  • You don't have to do either of these. Instead, click on Pay with Debit or Credit card, as in the photo opposite. You will then be asked to enter your card details.

What about Gift Aid?

  • If you are a UK tax payer and you would like the u3a claim Gift Aid on your subscription, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box on the online renewal form.
  • For joint memberships the person making the payment must be the person who pays tax.
  • If you do not pay tax, or do not want the u3a to claim Gift Aid, make sure the box is not ticked.

What happens after I've paid?

  • You will receive an email from PayPal confirming your payment.
  • You will also receive a separate email from the Membership Secretary confirming your renewal and enclosing your membership card(s) to print at home.
  • If you do not receive both of these emails please do not try to renew online again. Instead contact the Membership Secretary or telephone 01246 900201.

How do I renew?

  • To renew online you will need a Members' Portal account. If you have already created one and know how to use the Members' Portal go straight to the Members Portal Login page.
  • If you haven't used the Portal before, haven't previously created a Portal account or need a reminder about how to use it, go to the About the Members Portal page.
  • To download a paper renewal form go to Renew
