The Droitwich U3A Wind Instrument Playing group (DWIG) was founded in November 2015 and currently have eight players on clarinet()4, cornet, euphonium, trombone/flute and tenor drum/bass guitar.

Wind instrument players who read music are welcome.

List of Performances_

On 25th June 2017 a Quintet from the group had our first public performance at the Salt King 200 celebrations at Chateau Impney when we played Handel's Maccabaeus on the arrival of the salt bearing walkers, then Happy Birthday to John Corbett. See photo below.

On 30th June 2018, a Trio from the group played in St. Andrews Square at Droitwich Arts Festival opening ceremony. See photos below, courtesy of Ruth Bourne.

On 1st July 2018 a Quartet from the group played at a public Open Garden at Martin Hussingtree in aid of the new Pamela May canal trip boat. See photo below.

On 17th December 2018 a Septet from the group played carols from around the world in the Minstrels' Gallery of the Pear Tree Inn for 15 minutes at the U3A Droitwich Christmas Lunch. See photo to the right and a video clip on our YouTube channel

On 22nd July 2019 an Octet from the group had a successful two hours' playing outside Bromsgrove's Morrison's store as part of their two week "Carnival", with many musical groups and individuals playing to fund raise for a children's cancer charity (https://www.clicsargent.org.uk/). See photo to the right.

On 16th December 2019 an Octet from the group played 30 minutes of welcoming music at the U3A Droitwich annual Christmas Lunch when we combined traditional carols with more recent seasonal music.

On 7th May 2020, we released an "at home" performance of Kilalloe and have since made Come to the Fair, Liberty Bell, Arioso and others.

On 13th December 2021 a Dectet played carols for 30 minutes before the U3A Droitwich's Christmas Lunch.

On 13th August 2022, a Trio from the group played water themed music for 1.5 hours at the riverside of The Wye Float Hereford, collecting £108.84 for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

On 11th December 2022, a quartet from the group played carols at Avoncroft Museum of buildings.

On 16th December 2022, an Octet from the group played carols in Victoria Square, Droitwich and raised for the Midlands Air Ambulance. https://youtu.be/oj780s56PN8

On three weekend days in June and July 2023 a Quintet from the group played Forties music on board Severn Valley Railway Forties weekend trains.

On 12th August 2023, a Septet from the group played water themed music on the riverside for the annual colourful charity event "Wye Float" when a multitude of inflatable craft floated down the River Wye in Hereford.
