Interest Groups

WE CURRENTLY HAVE 21 INTEREST GROUPS

Our groups vary in size depending on the number of members interested, the size of the meeting place and the type of activity. Groups can meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly and they may continue through the year or for just part of the year.

Members can volunteer to lead a group on a subject in which they have an interest or possibly some special expertise. The Group Leader is then responsible for organising the content of the meeting.

Any member of Driffield and Wolds U3A can volunteer to set up a new interest group; advice and support is available from the secretary, the group co-ordinator, the committee and from the national organisation, the Third Age Trust.

While we are looking for members to lead new interest groups, nobody is obliged to do this. If you have a particular interest or some expertise in a subject and would like to help form a group for this, please let a member of the committee know. The U3A is a self-help organisation and the philosophy is that we are all teachers and learners.

We are currently looking at plans to expand the number and range of our interest groups and will making further announcements about this.

When you join you will receive full details of the groups and the group leaders contact numbers. Pick and choose what groups you are interested in, and you will be most welcome to join.
Membership of the groups is included in the branch annual subscription and most groups have no additional cost. However, where a room has to be hired and resources are needed there will be a charge to take into account the cost of the room.
