We meet on the 4th Monday of the month at my home at 2.30.
This is a new group of people who admit to knowing nothing about Philosophy but are keen to learn together. We do a little individual research into the ideas of some well known philosophers, ancient and modern, then discuss in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. We listen and consider each other's views on subjects which have puzzled mankind for centuries, but in a light-hearted way.
So far we have looked at
Plato, Diogenes and the Cynics,
Zeno, Seneca and Marcus Auralius and The Stoics
Socrates and Descartes and The Sceptics.
We have discussed Euthanasia
What is Reality?
Would we achieve happiness with a simpler life?
Should we accept the world as it is or strive to change it?
Should charity begin at home?
We have space for one or two more members, so please let me know if you are interested. Gwen Hickman
