Lunch Club 1
Jill Samwell-Smith had the original idea for a ladies luncheon group for single women who would not otherwise go alone to restaurants. When Jill moved away she passed the baton on to Polly. We have been meeting each month for many years and began with 13 women who didn't know each other and have bonded into a group who look forward to these social outings at a different venue each month. Choice of Pub/Restaurant and times of next meeting is discussed informally by suggestions and popular vote after each lunch. We tend to choose venues further afield in Summer and closer to Downham in the Winter months. Of course, not having to cook yet another meal for one is another very good reason for us to get together. We have the opportunity thanks to the U3A to enjoy each other's company and have developed into a very happy and friendly group. Polly Holttum
