Music Appreciation 1
Music Appreciation
There are three music appreciation groups, all of them different because they reflect the likes and dislikes of their members. Two of the groups have a free choice approach where members each bring something to the group that they like. In this way we listen to music from the earliest to the modern, by many different composers. The third group bring a piece of music related to a particular theme which could be Italian Opera or Second Movements from Concertos.
We have also listened to various TV programmes like "Leningrad and the Orchestra that defied Hitler" and discovered the terrible circumstances that led to the composition of the 7th Symphony by Shostakovich.
We all have favourites, but it is always good to hear and learn about compositions that are new to us. I find that life is so busy that I don't often sit and listen to music for very long at a time. I usually listen while I'm doing something else so to have to sit for two hours and just listen is wonderful.
If you want a relaxing afternoon why not try Music appreciation 3 which currently has vacancies?
