Crime Fiction
The Crime fiction Group has been existence since autumn 2009 with a membership of twelve. We began with Edgar Allen Poe and explored Victorian crime fiction and classic British crime writers such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers. We have moved on to the American crime novel by looking at the work of Raymond Chandler and Ed McBain and will be doing a comparison of the two different approaches. We also read and discuss many modern crime novelists and on Sept 15th attended a talk by Jim Kelly on 'Nordic Crime and the Fens' - this reflected the current interest in the Scandinavian crime novel. As well as discussing and comparing and attending relevant talks we have had two enjoyable theatre visits, plus a visit to the Sherlock Holmes Museum in Baker Street.
We meet in the afternoon on the third Thursday of the month.
