Recreational and Social Table Tennis

We have a healthy membership, but are able to accept just a few more players. So do not delay if you would like to join this super group. See the Winter 2017 copy of “Third Age Matters” page 23 (Easy Affordable and Good for You) for more reasons to join!

Our primary objective is an enjoyable social occasion through the medium of recreational table tennis. The spin offs from this activity are numerous. We improve our flexibility and balance, improve our hand eye coordination, and even gently exercise our cardio-vascular systems!

We meet on the 1st,2nd and 3rd Wednesday from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in the Hope Church, Vinces Rd Diss.. Players of all abilities are welcome, however long it is since they last played. We play the new format to 11 points per game, which ensures ample time for recovery and social interaction. Our balls are now slightly larger but definitely 3 star in performance. We still use bats rather than racquets (which the guide books now refer to). We have two tables available for play allowing doubles (not so much running about) and single games to be played.

We provide everything that is needed – tables, bats, balls and most importantly tea, coffee, biscuits and cake, together with a warm welcome. You will though need your own appropriate footwear.

The cost of each session is £2 in order to cover the (current) hall hire fee of £15. We plan only to cover costs and if a balance should accrue we aim to be able to reduce the session fee.

For further information about our group and/or directions to the hall, contact Gerry Gunton on 01379 687447
