Practical Metal Detecting

Within a social environment, and while keeping abreast of the legal requirements and health and safety issues, this group visits locations to conduct practical metal detecting. Operating within the Codes of Practice linked to the Treasure Act 1996 and the Portable Antiquities Scheme 1997, any finds, large or small, are dealt with in agreement with the group members. All members must join the NCMD (National Council for Metal Detecting), which also provides insurance cover. All members agree to abide by the commitments laid down by members on initial meetings.

Potential locations are also identified by group members, with the formal requests for permission to use them being made by the Group Leader. Participants will need to bring their own metal detectors.

Meetings take place monthly on the morning of the 3rd Friday, often followed by a pub lunch.

We are currently operating a "waiting list" as we reached capacity.
