Dingwall & District

Welcome

Welcome to Dingwall and District U3A

We are a fairly new U3A serving Dingwall and the surrounding area, including Maryburgh, Marybank, Conon Bridge, Evanton, Muir of Ord, Contin and Strathpeffer.
We held our inaugural meeting on 17 January 2019

Membership is open to all those who are not still in full-time employment, the majority of our members are fully retired. There are no residence or other qualifications needed, the annual subscription is shown on the application form and is currently twenty pounds. You’re very welcome to come to a couple of our meetings as a guest, before you decide to become a member.

By far the best way to join, is to come to one of our monthly meetings, held on the third Thursday of every month. They are held in the afternoon in Castle Street Church Hall, Dingwall

Our subscription year runs from 1st February to 31st January, and for your membership fee you can attend as many interest groups that you like, as well as our monthly meetings, you will also receive Third Age Matters, the quarterly U3A magazine, as well as our own quarterly newsletter.

There is also a National Newsletter, which we encourage all members to sign up for. (use the link on this page to the main U3a site.

What is U3A?

Learn, Laugh, Live!

Membership of U3A is open to all in their 'third age', which is defined not by a particular age but by a period in life in which full-time employment has ceased. Here in Dingwall & District U3A we have groups ranging from Art Appreciation to Golf. You can suggest your own ideas for groups and as long as there's someone else interested, you can start it up with our support. Decide what interest groups you'd like to join and give them a try - once you've joined U3A you can be in as many groups as you like! No qualifications are needed to join and no awards are given - you don't have to prove you have learnt or done something.

The U3A movement is non-religious and non-political.

Interest Groups

Interest groups are at the core of U3A. You can spend time socialising and learning, being active or creative with like-minded people in a friendly atmosphere. Interest groups can meet in members' homes or in a local hall. They are run by members for members, with support from the local U3A and the Third Age Trust.
Once you are a U3A member you can join as many interest groups as you want, all for the price of the annual membership fee.
