New Age Kurling 2
The New Age Kurling Group 2 meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 2-4 at the lovely Toftwood Village Hall. Only a few minutes out of town, the hall offers a large comfortable area to play this exciting sport. Have a go, have some laughs and enjoy a cuppa and a chat with new and old friends alike. It's anything you want it to be; fun, competitive, a gentle exercise method and a great way to help us all get to those magic 10,000 steps. To keep this even more friendly, sometimes players pick cards for random team selection. We stop for refreshments midway and then the fun starts again with another random team selection. Only want to play once a month? Contact me to see if there is a space for you. Each session costs £2 plus 50p for refreshments.
New Age Kurling is a sport that requires participants to deliver ‘stones’ from one end of the court to a target at the other end of the court. The target has red, white and blue concentric circles and scoring is determined by the number of stones closest to the centre of this target. Each game normally consists of 6 or 8 ends and is played on a court based on half the width of a standard size badminton court with each end being played in the opposite direction to the previous end. The winner is the player with the highest number of scoring ‘stones’ at the finish of the game.
To keep this fun and exciting, we add mini tournaments and a year end Christmas extravaganza event with prizes for the winners. We are always looking for new ideas to keep this fresh so always welcome suggestions from our players. Please contact Valerie Akehurst via the blue bird link or call 07528 799945 for more details.
