Welcome to the Daventry & District U3a
The U3A (The University of the Third Age) provides an opportunity for retired and semi-retired people to meet in a friendly environment and pursue their interests in the creative and leisure areas of their choice. No qualifications are required to join the U3A and there are no examinations. We draw upon the knowledge, experience and skills of our members to propose, organise and participate in the interest groups. We all learn from each other and have fun on the way. The U3A's approach is: Learn, Laugh and Live!
There are many U3A organisations in the UK and throughout the world, from Australia to California and the number is growing all of the time. All U3A’s are charities in their own right and are run entirely by local volunteers. A typical U3A has about 350 members but could be as small as 12 or as large as 2000. Join us and the growing list of nearly 350,000 members in over a 1,000 separate U3A’s throughout the UK today.
Our U3a has around 250 members from Daventry and the surrounding area and we are still growing. MONTHLY MEETINGS are held on the third Thursday of the month, 2 - 4pm at the Community Centre, Ashby Rd, Daventry NN11 9QD. There is a varied programme of speakers and entertainment, followed by refreshments and an opprtunity to meet other members and the Committee and get further information. See our Notices and Events pages for news and up to date information.
Our 30 plus INTEREST GROUPS include art, languages, history, bird watching, bridge, card making, photography, walking and folk dancing as well as many more. See our GROUPS page for our current list and details of how to get in touch and join a group. Our SOCIAL GROUPS include Sunday lunch and a monthly get together over lunch "screenchat"". We also have a full programme of OUTINGS and THEATRE TRIPS. Full details can be found on the EVENTS page and its "Out and About with the U3a" link.
There is a monthly newsletter available on-line on the NEWSLETTER page, or at the Thursday monthly meeting which contains everything you need to know.
Membership is just £20.00 per year. This gives members access to the interest groups, free entry to the monthly meetings with speakers and refreshments and copies of the National U3a magazine: Third Age Matters. All this with the opportunity to meet people and make new friends.
A Membership Application Form is available to print off. Just click on the link you will find at the top of the right hand side of this page or contact a member of the Committee.
