MEETINGS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Due to the Coronavirus/Covid-19 situation, we have decided to cancel the remaining Music Group meetings for this term - that is, 18th March and 1st April. We hope that by the end of the month the situation will have become clearer, one way or the other, and we do have a summer programme in place starting on 6th May with Paul McClure.
The remaining meetings this term are CANCELLED
On 18th March Don Frampton from Teign Valley U3A is coming to St. Clement's Church to give us a talk about Tchaikovsky which he is calling A Glorious Song and Dance (but with almost no ballet music), and then
On 1st April we will meet again in the Flavel when pianist Jane Carrington Porter will be presenting a lecture/recital covering Melody, Counterpoint, Fugues, some variants of melody and portrayal of music in art. Pieces likely to be performed by Jane are Bach Fugue, Bach Sarabande, Beethoven Moonlight Sonata, Mendelssohn Barcarolle, Brahms intermezzo and Peter Scunthorpe A very Short Piece. Three lovely meetings so come and enjoy a musical afternoon - NB at Flavel on 4th March and 1st April.
Unlike most groups within Dart Valley U3A, the Music Group mainly invites outside speakers/performers on a variety of musical topics (usually classical) and you can be assured of a rewarding afternoon. We charge £12 per term (6 meetings) or £3 per session. We finish with tea at about 4 p.m. Do join us - visitors always welcome.
