Speaker: Angela Young

Field of Dust

The speaker was born in Gravesend and has written three historical novels which weave her family history research into the 19th and 20th century riverside history of the area.

The talk is all about growing up in the Gravesend area where there were several cement factories. In the 18th century, Angela's family lived and worked in the midst of the burgeoning cement industry on the banks of the Thames. The area changed beyond recognition and not for the better.
