Cupar U3A was launched on 22 April 2009 and is part of a world-wide movement which was founded in 1972. The U3A was set up to encourage local people to draw together talent from among retired or semi-retired people who have an interest in sharing their knowledge, in widening their horizons and in learning, studying and researching topics. The Third Age refers to the period of time after the First Age of childhood dependence and the Second Age of full-time employment and parental responsibility.
We currently have over 260 members and there are more than 35 activity groups in which the members can participate. We also have an open meeting at monthly intervals with a range of speakers which are open to both members and the public. If you decide to attend regularly we hope you will become members.
NEW GROUP - Mahjong. This group is currently meeting every Thursday between 11 and 1pm. As they are so new, there is no Group Contact at present, so if you are interested, contact General Enquiries.
NEW GROUP - Malt Whisky Tasting. This group is about to meet for the first time, to discuss when, where, how often etc etc. If you are interested in joining them, please contact General Enquiries.
The annual subscription to Cupar U3A is £15 and new members will be made very welcome. Our Open Meetings are free to U3A members and guests and includes tea/coffee and biscuits. If you want to find out more please come along to one of our open meetings and join in the fun.
