VERONICA KIRK
CHAIRMAN, CUPAR U3A
September 2020

Cupar U3A was launched on 22 April 2009 and has members all over North East Fife - from as far afield as Newburgh, Upper Largo, Tayport, Ladybank, Auchtermuchty - and all sites in between. We are one of two U3As in Fife - the other is based in Kirkcaldy.

Cupar U3A is part of a world-wide movement which was founded in 1972. The U3A was set up to encourage local people to draw together talent from among retired or semi-retired people who have an interest in sharing their knowledge, in widening their horizons and in learning, studying and researching topics. The Third Age refers to the period of time after the First Age of childhood dependence and the Second Age of full-time employment and parental responsibility.

We currently have over 260 members and there are more than 35 activity groups in which the members can participate. We also have an open meeting at monthly intervals with a range of speakers which are open to both members and the public. If you decide to attend regularly we hope you will become members.

NEW GROUPS LOOKING FOR ADDITIONAL MEMBERS - Bridge, Wine Tasting 3, Malt Whisky Tasting, Cycling, Swallows 3 (short walks), Swallows 4 (longer walks). If you are interested in joining any of these groups, or getting more information, please email General Enquiries on the Contact Page of the website.

The annual subscription to Cupar U3A is £15 and new members will be made very welcome. Our Open Meetings are free to U3A members and guests and includes tea/coffee and biscuits. If you want to find out more please come along to one of our open meetings and join in the fun.

What is the U3A?

U3A is a learning co-operative of retired or semi-retired people which enables members to share many educational, creative and leisure activities.

U3A membership offers new challenges, new opportunities and new friends.

Please go to the Contact Page to send an email for further general information, or if you are interested in joining multiple groups. You can also send a message to individual group leaders on the appropriate group page.
