The Group Contact is Tom Davison.
The Ceres Music Group – we call it Music 2 – gets together every second Tuesday from 10-12 to enjoy widely diverse programmes taking in the best – and sometimes even the worst – the wonderful world of classical music has to offer.
The group tends to alternate its programmes between themes and composers. Recent themes have included slow movements from piano concertos, the ‘Classical Spice Girls’, weddings and marriage, overtures and the harp. Composers put under the spotlight at recent meetings have included Georges Bizet, Aram Khachaturian, Carl Nielson, Aaron Copland and Franz Schubert.
Generally, each programme comprises around 70 minutes of music and some background information. The group contact is a journalist by trade and so members have come to expect the music to be accompanied by some interesting stories.
As with the music group that meets in Letham, the programmes are intended to be interesting and relaxing. After all, there’s absolutely no need to know anything about music to be able to enjoy it. There’s a break for tea/coffee, biscuits and a friendly chat, which may or may not be about music.
The Ceres group is a small one but new members will be more than welcome.
If you are interested in joining this group, then please send a message using the bluebird on this page. Your message will be logged and forwarded to the Group Contact for a response.
