Happy New Year to all!

When the U3A committee arranged an initial meeting for those interested in Genealogy, Peter and I were asked to act as contacts in order to get the group up and running. We were pleased to do this. However, neither of us is in a position to act as a convener in the longer term.

We have two meetings planned for 2020. The visit to the Heritage Centre in Exeter, which Peter is arranging, will take place on Monday March 23rd. Please contact Peter for further details and to book a place. palucey@gmail.com . For our first meeting of the year, I will give a presentation featuring aspects of the history of my village, Sheldon, and its people, making use of a variety of records. This meeting is proposed for Wednesday February 26th at 2pm at the Hayridge Centre, Cullompton.

After these sessions, Peter and I will be stepping down, so a new convener [or preferably two people sharing] will be needed to take the group forward. If you are interested in becoming a convener, or would like more information about what the role involves, please contact Vicki Woodward, Groups Co-ordinator - vickijwoodward@gmail.com who will put you in the picture. A couple of people have said they might be happy to share their research. Can I say to them, this would be a good moment to offer to lead the April meeting.
