Gardening Group 2
In January we will be starting our eighth year as the second gardening group within Crowborough U3A. We meet on the second Thursday morning of the month. Most months we visit gardens in and around Kent and East and West Sussex, with an occasional speaker and usually a Christmas pub lunch in December. We aim to be at the planned venue by 10.30am.
We co-ordinate car sharing at the long stay car park at the
Leisure Centre and ask for a modest donation of £3 to whoever may be the driver(s).
The cost of the monthly outing is usually collected by our treasurer on the morning. However, occasionally, payment will need to be made in advance.
The organiser of each month’s outing needs to be advised by the Monday prior whether or not you will be joining the group. This really is important as numbers need to be advised to our hosts a few days before our visit.
Members also benefit with a discount on seeds through a major seed company in January, and bulbs at extremely good prices from a wholesale supplier in early Autumn.
We are a very friendly group, with a good record of lovely sunny outing days and if you would like to join us – or join our waiting list as is sometimes necessary – please use the 'Click to send message' link.
Our England is a garden path
That leads to stately views
Of border, beds and shrubberies
And lawns and avenues.
And Adam was a gardener
And God, who made him, sees
That half a proper gardener’s work
Is done upon his knees.
So, when your back stops aching
And your hands begin to harden
You will find yourself a partner
In the glory of the garden.
