Short walks 2020
October
In October three of us stepped from the bus opposite Jewsmoor into a field with VIEWS all around. We stopped to ADMIRE a wonderful display of dahlias and nasturtiums, were SURPRISED by a new development tucked away off the High Street and shocked by the developer who STOLE land from the Public Right of Way opposite St Saviour’s Way car park. Will bulldozers claim it back?! A good chat over coffee, then home just as rain started.
September
In September, with perfect timing, heavy rain cleared as the walkers gathered for a walk chosen and led by Ann, who fairly recently moved to Crediton from the Black Country. From Tolleys we went up Miss Buller's Ride to Downes Head, past the "snowdrop wood" on our left to Downes Lodge, a few minutes of roaring traffic then a public footpath leading to a bridge over the Yeo and a crossing place over the railway. Up across the Golf course for magnificent views, right at the edge of Hookway and back across the Golf Course to the Station, Four Mills Lane and delicious coffee at Moto Velo.
It was a treat to be able to walk and talk with each other.
August
We were lucky with our weather for our August walk which was a Redfers Ramble, led by Gill.

Here we are socially distancing and the new member was accompanied up the hill.
As well as being a walking group, we are a look-out-for-each-other-group. I am proud of that. Well done everyone!

JULY. First walk since February!
July was our first group walk since February so it was a real pleasure to meet and talk to each other. We did well in trying to keep our distance while walking. In the Town Square people were respectful of each other's need to distance. There were 4 on one table and six on another ( including two household pairs ).
Starting at the top of Pounds Hill, we walked along Stonewall Lane and through a gap in the bank into Forches Cross Playing Field for splendid views. A few more met us at the top of Sandford Footpath to take in the shade and calm of Long Plantation woods to the top of George Hill. Then Keith led us down George Hill, through the Trenavin estate, new to most of us, along Peoples Park where moth damage to Horse Chestnuts was explained, and down Deep Lane to the Town Square. We sat under the town square parasols for coffee and completely forgot to take any photos.

February
Grand Western Canal walk 26.2.20
Eleven of us gathered in the canal basin on a very cold, showery day and walked alog the canal bank until we reached Manley Bridge, where we turned left and followed the way to the disused wide-gauge railway line (which used to go into the centre of Tiverton from the London – Exeter main line. This eventually led us back to the canal.

----- On 22 January NINE of us walked the Millennium Path from Higher Road, (first photo) to the Lamb Inn at Sandford (second photo) where we were joined by TWO more. Our thanks to Keith Barker and Lizzie Dalton for the photos.
